Stainless steel grating is a type of bar grating panel, widely used in applications of various factories and engineering projects. Stainless Steel Grating Bar Dimension

Stainless steel gratings are produced in various sizes, which are decided by steel bar dimensions.

  • The commonly used flat bar sizes for stainless steel grating include 20*5, 25*5, 25*3, 32*5, 32*5, 40*5, 40*3, 50*5, and 65*5.
  • The flat bar spacing can vary, with options such as 30mm, 40mm, 50mm, 60mm, etc.
  • The twisted bars typically have diameters of 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm, with twisted bar spacing options of 50mm or 100mm. Other specifications and sizes can also be customized according to specific requirements.

Stainless Steel Grating Production

Stainless steel grating finds application in various factories and engineering projects both domestically and internationally. It is also known as stainless steel grating or stainless steel grating panels. Typically, there are 2 types of manufacturing methods: welding stainless steel flat bars with stainless steel round bars or interlocking stainless steel flat bars. It offers strong corrosion resistance, a clean appearance, and an aesthetically pleasing decorative effect, but the price is generally higher.

In stainless steel grating production process, high-pressure resistance welding machines are used for machine press welding.

Press-locked stainless steel grating doesn’t include welding process, it is fastened by the pressing force on crossbars, so it doen’t provide high tensile strength.

Serrated stainless steel grating uses the same manufacturing process, with replacing the flat bars into serrated bars, which creates good anti-slip effect.

  1. The mechanical arm automatically places crossbars horizontally on uniformly arranged flat steel.
  2. The crossbars are then resistance welded into the flat steel using powerful electric welding power and hydraulic force.
  3. This process results in high-quality steel grid plates with strong and stable weld points and exceptional strength.

Materials for Stainless Steel Grating

Stainless steel grating is commonly made from materials such as 304, 316, and 301. 304 stainless steel has moderate corrosion resistance and is the most commonly used grade, recommended for general applications. 316 (316L) stainless steel has stronger corrosion resistance but is more expensive. 301 stainless steel has weaker corrosion resistance but is relatively cheaper.

Surface Treatment of Stainless Steel Grating:

During the production process of stainless steel grating, welding and cutting create heat and result in the formation of a black oxide layer on the surface. The surface requires secondary treatment, and there are generally 3 methods available:

  • Pickling: This method involves acid cleaning the surface, resulting in a matte gray-white appearance.
  • Electrochemical polishing: This method provides a brighter surface finish.
  • Heat treatment and polishing: The finished grating undergoes heating, electrochemical polishing, and chrome plating treatment to achieve a mirror-like effect.
