Hot-dip Galvanized Steel Gratings Specification

  • Flat Steel Spacing: Available options include 30mm, 40mm, 60mm, etc. The recommended choices are 30mm and 40mm.
  • Transverse Bar Spacing: Options include 30mm, 38mm, 50mm, 76mm, 100mm. The recommended choices are 50mm and 100mm.
  • Dimensions: Commonly used twisted square bars are 6x6mm. For smaller galvanized steel gratings, 5x5mm twisted square bars are typically used. Stainless steel gratings often use 5mm diameter round bars.
  • Spacing of Loaded Flat Steel: The center-to-center distance between two adjacent loaded flat steel bars is commonly 30mm or 40mm.
  • Transverse Bar Spacing: The center-to-center distance between two adjacent transverse bars is typically 50mm or 100mm. However, it can be produced according to customer requirements.

Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel Grating Manufacture

Hot-dip galvanized steel gratings are manufactured by arranging flat steel bars at a certain spacing and crossing them with transverse bars, welded together to form a grid pattern with square cutouts.

Hot-dip galvanized steel gratings possess high strength, a lightweight structure, and are easy to lift, among other features. Additionally, they have an attractive appearance and long-lasting durability. The surface is treated with hot-dip galvanization, providing excellent corrosion resistance.

Hot-dip Galvanized Steel Grating Classification

Hot-dip galvanized steel gratings can be classified into 4 main types based on the type of flat steel used:

  • Plain Type: The plain type hot-dip galvanized steel grating is the most widely used. It is primarily used for platforms, walkways, various types of trench covers, and stair treads.
  • Serrated Type: The serrated type galvanized steel grating offers better slip resistance compared to the plain type. It is suitable for areas where enhanced traction is required.
  • I-shaped Type: The I-shaped type galvanized steel grating is lighter in weight compared to the plain type without significantly compromising its load-bearing capacity. This makes it a more economical choice while maintaining strength.

Hot-dip Galvanized Steel Grating Fastening

Each type of hot-dip galvanized steel grating serves specific purposes and has its advantages in different applications, they can be fastened easily in application.

Galvanized Steel Grating Customization

Fastening Types: Hot-dip galvanized steel grating can be installed using either welding or clamp fastening methods.

Welding Fastening: The advantages of welding include permanent fixation and no loosening. Welding is done at the first flat steel on each corner of the grating, with a minimum weld length of 20mm and a height of at least 3mm.

Clamp Fastening: on the other hand, allows for easy disassembly without damaging the galvanized coating. Each grating panel typically requires at least four sets of clamp fasteners, and the number of fasteners increases with the length of the panel.

The safest fastening method is to eliminate the need for lower clamps by directly welding the screw heads to the beams, ensuring that the steel grating does not slide off the beams due to loose fasteners.

How to Install Hot-dip Galvanized Steel Grating:

  • Heavy-duty hot-dip galvanized steel grating: This type of grating is made by welding flat steel with a width of 65mm to 200mm and a thickness of 5mm to 20mm. It is suitable for large freight yards, docks, coal mine road bridges, etc., and can withstand heavy-duty truck traffic.
  • Galvanized steel grating (flat steel spacing of 40mm): This is the most economical and lightweight variety of hot-dip galvanized steel grating. It is the ideal choice for small-span applications.
  • Hot-dip galvanized steel grating (flat steel spacing of 60mm): This grating, with a flat steel spacing of 60mm and cross bars of 50mm, is suitable for the mining industry and solves the problem of mineral splashing on the surface. It is often specified for mining processing plants.
  • Hot-dip galvanized steel grating (flat steel spacing of 30mm): This is the most widely used variety in the industrial sector. Among the commonly used hot-dip galvanized steel grating series, it offers the strongest resistance to surface impact.
  • Hot-dip galvanized steel grating (I-shaped flat steel): This type of grating, made by welding I-shaped flat steel, is characterized by its lightweight and high load-bearing capacity. It is suitable for various applications, especially walkways and observation platforms.
