Heavy-duty steel grating refers to steel gratings that have a bearing flat bar width of 65mm or more and a bearing flat bar thickness of 6mm or more. The crossbars of heavy-duty steel gratings are usually made of flat bars or steel reinforcement bars with diameters of 10mm or 12mm.
Due to the special nature of heavy-duty steel gratings, we generally recommend that customers inform us about their load requirements and support conditions so that we can select the most economically reasonable specifications for them. The flat bar spacing of heavy-duty steel gratings is usually 40mm, and the crossbar spacing can be either 50mm or 100mm.
- Flat bar specifications: Bearing flat bar width of 65mm or more; bearing flat bar thickness of 6mm or more.
- Crossbar specifications: The crossbars are usually made of flat bars or 10mm/12mm diameter steel bars.
- Spacing: The spacing between flat bars is generally 40mm, and the spacing between crossbars can be either 50mm or 100mm.

Heavy-duty Steel Grating Classification
- Heavy-duty pressure-locked steel grating refers to steel grating where the crossbars are made of steel reinforcement bars(square bar). It is suitable for applications with unidirectional loads.
- Heavy-duty pressure-locked steel grating can also use crossbars made of flat bars. It is suitable for applications with bidirectional loads, but it is much more expensive than pressure-locked steel grating. In general, it is not recommended unless specifically required.
- According to the surface shape, heavy-duty steel gratings can be classified into flat-type and serrated-type.

It is commonly used in areas such as used in industries such as petrochemicals, power generation, water supply, sewage treatment, port terminals, architectural decoration, shipbuilding, automated parking lots, platforms, walkways, gangways, trench covers, manhole covers, ladders, fences, etc. It can weigh several hundred pounds and has a higher load-bearing capacity than compound steel gratings.
The thickness of the flat bars used in heavy-duty steel grating can reach 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, etc., effectively preventing the tilting of the bearing flat bars and avoiding deformation under load. Heavy-duty steel grating is ideal for applications requiring heavy loads and has made significant contributions to China’s development and construction.
Load-bearing Capacity of Heavy-duty Steel Grating:
- Light-duty: 25 tons/m2; suitable for areas such as campuses, residential parks, parks, underground parking lots, and kitchens where lightweight vehicles and pedestrians pass (recommended 605/30, 100).
- Heavy-duty: 70 tons/m2; suitable for factory areas, general highways, main roadsides, parking lots, and streets where vehicles weighing below 20 tons pass (recommended 806/30/100).
- Super-heavy-duty: 140 tons/m2; suitable for main highways where heavy trailers, container forklifts, cranes, and aircraft pass, as well as large-scale parking lots, mines, ports, and airports (recommended 1208/30/100).

- Galvanized steel grating with flat bar spacing of 40mm is an economical and lightweight variety. It is an ideal choice for small-span applications.
- Galvanized steel grating with flat bar spacing of 60mm and crossbar spacing of 50mm is suitable for the mining industry and solves the problem of mineral splashing on the surface. It is often specified for use in mining processing plants.
- Galvanized steel grating with flat bar spacing of 30mm is widely used in the industrial field. Among the commonly used galvanized steel grating series, it has strong resistance to surface impact.
